When working with a therapist I believe that a key ingredient to the success of the work is the relationship you can build together.

I bring warmth, empathy and creativity to my work with clients and believe that the most healing part of therapy is the relationship created during this process. My approach engages you in an exploration of your life on an intellectual, emotional and spiritual level and you are offered space to share difficult feelings in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

Whilst there is no such thing as a ‘typical’ therapy session, working with me is most likely to include conversation which warmly supports your exploration around your issues as well as helping you make sense of your behaviour in many aspects of your life. I’m a creative therapist, and will always look for ways in which we can work better together, challenging you to build a greater awareness of yourself, your world and your relationships. We may also use the arts to help deepen the work, or to find ways of expressing feelings through images - a process that requires no artistic ‘skill’ and which I will fully support you to try.

It should be said that I do not believe therapy to be a ‘quick fix’ - it is often long-term and requires a commitment to work between sessions. Just coming to your session once a week will not be enough to bring about change. You also may want to consider whether this is the right time for you in your life to commit fully to this process.

Over the years I have developed a passion for delivering therapy in natural environments, and am happy to offer outdoor or walking psychotherapy sessions where there is an interest in this way of working.

What brought me to this work?

After studying English at Oxford University I worked in theatre for a number of years as a Press Officer. This was an exciting, glamorous time but one that over time felt increasingly empty, and led me to explore creating a future that contained more personal meaning for me. This led me to study psychology at university in the evenings and then on to a Masters degree in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy from the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education. I now have over a decade of experience as a therapist and now work exclusively in private practice. Previously, I worked as a Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor for a London Eating Disorders clinic and have previously held Psychotherapist positions in 3 separate NHS trusts providing individual and group psychotherapy and for a London based charity with clients who have survived sexual abuse and trauma.

I am a fully accredited member of the UKCP. I have a diploma in Creative Supervision, am an accredited supervisor for IATE, and am available to supervise the work of other therapists.

As well as working with a range of issues I also specialise in the treatment of Eating Disorders and body image issues and work from a trauma informed perspective.

I work in person, as well as online with clients all around the world, with individuals, couples and groups.

Outside of being a therapist I am a writer and illustrator of picture books with an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art, and I live in Cambridge with my husband and our dog.

As I do have a dog (who will often join us in sessions if you would like), I like to advise prospective clients that if you are allergic to dogs or do not have a preference for them, then I am perhaps not the therapist for you.
